There are many different trends of interior design: oriental, glamour, rustic etc., but generally arranging the interior space you make choice between two styles: traditional and modern. You can easily compose those styles by selection of estimated furniture. Thanks to mixing you can make your own unique interior character. But plan the arrangement carefully first, to avoid the chaos and kitsch.
Main style
However your interior is to be eclectic and original, it is recommended to decide, which style will dominate. The main style should unify about 80 percents of interior. The rest of 20 percents can be used for your design experiments. When the modern style is the main one, colors of interior and furniture should mirror this fact. Impacts of other styles can be signalized with accessories like: lamps, mirrors, coffee table and decorations…And the same thing in case, when the tradition dominates – it should be marked decidedly in all interior.
What not to mix together
Decidedly extremely sober interior in industrial design do not work with rich, expansive Victorian decor and furniture. But if you limit the second one, contrastive style to those 20 percent, you can gain interesting effect.
Furniture
While composing the furniture set in your eclectic interior consider the role of each premises. For instance cherry or mahogany are formal so they work well in home cabinets – both minimalistic and art deco design. Bamboo, rattan, pine are good only for informal premises: studio, living room or bedroom.
Lighting
Remember also about diversification of the lighting. Beside the overhead lighting very important are those mood making, like: halogens, scones, in-built led lighting hidden under the furniture, in wall corners and shelves.
Patterns
While composing the textures, ornaments and colors of each element, consider that every one of them has features which impact interior as a whole. Use them rationally to enhance the advantages of your house (and cover disadvantages). For instance: good pattern for small interior is light distraction. Instead of one focal light overhead, use laterally located lighting (LED is recommended) and standing lamps. For the bedroom – place to rest – use less patterns and calming colors (lilac, beige, lavender, green).
